LEAHY – “GOOD WATER”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Canadian group Leahy has secured a place as one of the country’s most highly regarded progressive folk-roots bands. After a hiatus from recording, the JUNO Award-winning group are revving up once again, with a new single and lyric video “Good Water.“ It’s also the title of their upcoming album to be released on February 26, 2021. The single and the new album highlight their songwriting and singing, and reveal a contemporary version of the original Leahy sound with the addition of electric guitar and accordion to their arsenal of instruments.
The lyric video, produced by Julie Frances Leahy with video and animation by Adam Helmers, features the simple flow of water that captures the essence of the powerful lyrics to the title track. The glorious multiple harmonies on “Good Water” offer a perfect vehicle for the anthemic sentiment of the song. Each line of the chorus twists and folds cleverly into the next, creating a unity of both feeling and purpose. In the bitter dust of 2020, all of us are “thirsting for good water.” As John Lennon once did, Leahy dare to imagine “all the people living life in peace.”
Artist Quote
“After a hiatus from recording, we’re thrilled to be back with our new single and lyric video from our upcoming album Good Water. We’re excited to introduce a new, young Leahy to the roster: Xavier, and along with the help of Grammy Award-winning producer, (and fellow Canadian), David Bottrill, this is our most ambitious recording project to date. We hope you’ll enjoy it!”
