Ever since a young age I have been obsessed with music. As a songwriter myself, I like to dissect songs when I listen to them. When I studied abroad in the UK, I started writing album reviews for the Student Playlist and ever since then I’ve been wanting to pick it up again.
My name is Aldo Saltos but I go by Sonny. Just a born and raised New Yorker combining my passion for music and writing, seeing where it takes me.

AndrΓ© has been writing for The Spill Magazine for over 20 years, dating back to the print days. As a full time video producer for Long & McQuade, AndrΓ© is often seen hosting and demoing new gear on L&M’s YouTube channel. His passion for music goes far beyond writing reviews for new music and live concerts, he is also an active musician and producer on the Canadian music scene. Having toured North America and Europe with various acts, he is no stranger to dedication and work ethic new bands must endure to make the grade in today's market; Andre always delivers perspective writing that is authentic and to the point. Mr. Skinner typically covers indie rock, grass roots, electronica and is our resident hard rock and heavy metal specialist. He is extremely selective on what bands he covers for articles and you can rest assured they are ALWAYS band to watch with something left of centre to offer.
Native Quebecer and freelance writer Andrea ParΓ© first began using music as a drug in her teen years to escape the drab experience of growing up in the suburbs. After majoring in business & entrepreneurship at UCSB and traveling the world, Andrew moved to Los Angeles to pursue music and not give up his love for surfing, hiking and yoga. He is also in a couple really cool, up and coming, indie-rock bands in LA - Mothlight & Lone Kodiak.
Based in Montreal but raised across Western Europe, Andrew feels at home both everywhere and nowhere. Having picked up the piano at age four, he has since gone on to add clarinet, saxophone and guitar to his musical arsenal. As well as crafting music, Andrew spends a lot of time listening both at home and in live contexts. Rather than focusing on a particular style or calibre of artist, he is keen to explore music of any shape or size. Outside music, Andrew's passions lie in philosophical writing, visual art and sharing positivity with the world around him.

Bobby Singh is most comfortable and content with camera in hand, shooting artists big and small, on stage and off. A freelance photographer based in Toronto, Bobby's heart remains in New York City. Bobby's rise to fame was not one without heartbreak and hurdles. From the time he started working the clubs on Queen Street West battling low light and dodging spilled drinks, elbowing his way to the front of stage, he knew one day he would be accepted into the prestigious Pit, bestowed with the almighty Lanyard. It has been a long, strange trip. Some of his most prized accomplishments include being yelled at by Patti Smith, having his lens kicked off the stage by that guy in Imagine Dragons, being covered in various liquids by Leah Fay of July Talk, and most notably, patting Prince on the shoulder after a show. Currently Bobby still makes an effort to remain humble, occasionally gracing those old clubs with his prowess behind the lens. Please do not disturb him.

Music makes the worst situations bearable and the best situations even better. I'm just here to share the inside scoop and anything you may have missed, while I establish my own voice in the industry. Born and raised in Ottawa, I never go anywhere without a set of headphones. Live music has been my vice for as long as I can remember and sharing stage side stories is a major bonus.

I'm a 40 + music fan. Fond mostly of Rock and Metal my staple-musical food delights. Originally from Northern Ireland I am now based in the UK-Manchester. I have a hectic musical existence with regular shows and interviews. Been writing freelance for five years now with several international websites. Passionate about what I do I have been fortunate already to interview many of my all time musical heroes. My music passion was first created by seeing Status Quo at the tender age of 15. While I still am passionate about my Rock and Metal I have found that with age my taste has diversified so that now I am actually dipping into different musical genres and styles for the first time.

Melinda is a music enthusiast from the US who grew up on vinyl in the 70s and 80s. She's a lover of all genres, but rock/metal runs through her veins. Music is always in the background and in her head. Unfortunately, she has to have a "regular 8-5" job since "Professional Concert Go-er" doesn't pay the bills. Her bliss would be to follow more musicians and bands than "People she may know" on social media. Her ultimate long term goal is to be the old lady just enjoying the show down in front at the barricades at live shows. Her favorite quote is "Where words fail, music speaks".

My brain is oozing out of my head. All of the time.
It took the recommendation of a best friend to get me into the pages of music magazine writing. Armed with the deepest appreciation for all the music, a ridiculous sense of humour, and the apparent ability to string a few words together, these fingers started giving. Who knew it would become one of my favourite things many years later and that I'd enjoy seeing my works published the world over?!
I enjoy writing about music. I despise dancing about architecture.

Norman Darwen grew up in north-west England admiring Elvis’ gold lamΓ© jacket, Lord Kitchener’s way with words, and his much older brother’s and sister’s dancing to The Rolling Stones’ β€˜Little Red Rooster’ on the telly. He’d wind aforementioned brother up by reading the entire contents of an R’n’B magazine he used to have to collect from his local shop for him and then reciting back as much as he could remember. Some years later he’d wind up his own friends by telling them who these people were that Led Zeppelin etc were covering – Willie Dixon, Howling Wolf, Otis Rush etc. These days he still listens to the blues, but has added a taste for reggae, zouk, rap, folk and anything else that takes his fancy…

Rachel Callan is a 21-year-old photographer, tea addict and vinyl collector from Port Perry, Ontario. An enormous love for music, an open mind to various genres and her love for concert photography lead her to apply for a position at Spill Magazine. With knowledge of music of various ages and a love for anything from Marilyn Manson to Shakira (and literally everything in between), she has the ability to be open to everything Spill will send her way. Rachel is most likely to be found enjoying a cup of tea or taking pictures with some of her favourite music playing in the background and will continue doing so for Spill Magazine.

Randy Radic is a former super model who succumbed to the ravages of time and age. Totally bereft of talent, he took up writing β€œbecause anyone can do it.” He smokes cigars (a disgusting habit) and has pet snakes (which is just gross). And some people say he’s aloof.
Raquel likes music a lot, especially indie music. This sometimes results in her writing about it. When she's not doing that, she is working at a tech startup in Vancouver. And when she's not doing that she's in school, learning about human resources. And in her spare time she sips wine while watching the west coast sunset.

At 16, I began a process of reshaping my passion for poetry and spoken word into an appreciation of hip-hop music. Realising that I could align both through music journalism, I started opening myself up to new genres outside of hip-hop whilst still writing – I am now at a point where I have not just only produced articles, but talked with a variety of artists and DJs and learned more about their creative process. Highlights include being featured on Medium’s global page for my article about mental health in hip-hop, or interviewing fantastic electronic artists like Clams Casino and Gigi Masin.

As a child growing up in the suburbs, Ryan found music as a way to soothe his boredom. After first hearing AC/DC at the age of 10, he was hooked on music. Tracing its roots to the β€˜50s, he became obsessed with Elvis, Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry. Somehow that led to grunge, then psych-rock, then jazz, etc. The list goes on and on and his collection of vinyl records continues to grow.

Although she doesn't write angsty poetry anymore, she does have a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism which she uses to pursue a creative career path. When she's not writing, Sabrina can be found juggling a coffee cup and DSLR or Instagramming her food.

So she goes to concerts and watches real musicians who are far more talented than her. You’ll find her there in the front row, because, well, she’s short and wouldn’t be able to see the stage very well otherwise, and because she strives to get the perfect photo to capture the experience.

I am an avid connoisseur of music experiences but never had the courage to share them until now. My inspiration comes from the '90s alternative and punk rock music I grew up listening to. Bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, Eve 6 and Everclear shaped my worldview and taste in music. I want to capture some of their energy and spirit in my stories. Thanks for checking out my bio and my work!
