THE WILD KINDNESS – “TRACE YR VEINS”
HAPPY NOW (2018)
20 Sided Records
San Francisco
January 9, 2018
Having previously played in notable SF Bay Area bands Actionslacks, Film School, AM Magic and the Decoration, the Wild Kindness came together as friends with a collective desire to continue creating dynamic, compelling music. After a handful of shows and many months holed up in a room in Marin working on songs, Mike Alexis (vocals, guitar), Ben Montesano (drums), Ross Murray (bass) and Jim Rivera (guitar) made their way to Tiny Telephone studio in Oakland.
With far reaching influences such as the Verlaines and Close Lobsters, to name a just few, as well as more recent bands like Cymbals Eat Guitars and Alvvays, there’s a solid melodic sensibility throughout their songs, delivered with an incisive bite. The Wild Kindness play a style of amplified beat music that is circa now, always following their instincts and keeping songcraft in high regard.
Quote from band about song:
“This is as concise a song as I’ve ever written, so I’ll be brief here as well. It’s finding joy in silly moments and also acknowledging that long term love is hard fought and worth fighting for. It’s the unabashedly optimistic opener to our record, giving way to more melancholy emotional explorations. Melodically and stylistically it gives a hearty nod to Close Lobsters”.
