JOHN CARPENTER’S LOST THEMES II CELEBRATES 10th ANNIVERSARY WITH EXPANDED ART EDITION
SET FOR RELEASE OCT 30 VIA SACRED BONES
Sacred Bones Records are celebrating the 10th anniversary of John Carpenter’s seminal Lost Themes II with a new expanded art edition of the acclaimed 2016 album. The anniversary edition, set for release October 30th, features newly commissioned artwork by Randy Ortiz and includes a bonus 7″ featuring “Real Xeno,” the first time the track has been available on vinyl outside of its original, limited Sacred Bones Society release. The B-side of the 7” vinyl features an exclusive etching created for the edition.
Released in 2016, Lost Themes II continued Carpenter’s exploration of music untethered from the screen, expanding on the world established by the first Lost Themes. Built from Carpenter’s signature minimal synths, guitars, and atmospheric arrangements, the album finds him creating tension, mystery, and cinematic scale without a film attached.
The Lost Themes series went on to become an essential part of Carpenter’s oeuvre, giving him space to explore ideas that might otherwise exist only as imagined scenes and soundtracks. Lost Themes II remains a particularly vivid entry in that series – dark, melodic, expansive, and unmistakably Carpenter. Ten years later, this new edition offers another way into an album that helped codify a new chapter of his remarkable multimedia career.
