NATIONAL TOUR COMES TO TORONTO ON JUNE 4 AT LEEโS PALACE
WATCH THE VANCOUVER DUOโS NEW VIDEO FOR โSO WHATโ
With power duo Pack A.D.โs latest single already tearing up the radio waves itโs time to treat your eyes with the eerie new video for โSo Whatโ which guitarist Becky Black claims is โbased on a true story.โ Drummer Maya Miller chimed in that โyou know your friendship game is strong when you can get your friend to be naked in a video.โ
The video was a bit of a change of pace for director Matt Leaf. โHonestly, from the second they offered me this video, I was over the moon. I thought Maya was kidding when she said she wanted me to make a horror / sci-fi themed video. How could this be possible? Iโve spent my career as a director wanting to make a name for myself in horror and sci-fi, but most of the labels and bands I work with are mainstream pop and want that Disney style kinda video. I love Disney, and working for pop artists, donโt get me wrong, but my heart is in genre filmmaking. The video we made for โSo Whatโ is an homage to so many influential horror and sci-fi films, and is extremely personal to me. I got to season the video with little love notes from all my favorite sci-fi films! They allowed me the opportunity to make the video of my dreams, and goddamn if this isnโt it.โ
Shredding and pounding their way through every song, the Pack A.D. swallows you whole inside their fearless Franken-blend of heavy psych-pop/garage-rock. Their lyrics are wild nests, human and complex; darkly funny disclosures about depression, indictments of digital excess, grief-stricken fire bombs, sly crusades against stupidity.
The Pack A.D. is also one of Canadaโs โmust-seeโ bands. Be it a massive stadium or the slightly seedy bar where everybodyโs shoes stick to the carpet, the Pack A.D. have owned every spotlight and stolen every show theyโve ever played. Becky Black and Maya Miller are relentless and riveting, playing with the kind of fuck-off freedom that makes everybody in the room vicarious rock stars, even if itโs just for the night. Experience it for yourself as the duo begins a string of tour dates across Canada beginning with a two night stand in Vancouver on May 12 and watch for news of an upcoming album via Cadence Music to be announced soon.
