INVENTORY UNVEIL DEBUT ALBUM WITH NEW SINGLE “NO DESIGN”
DREAM BUREAU
Drawing on the alternative rock of the ’90s, Inventory combine pop hooks with dissonant tension, noisy shoegaze and jazz-inflected textures, creating a guitar-driven sound that blends melody with an off-kilter edge. In recent years, the quartet have played across the Danish underground scene and on international stages. Now, their debut album is on the horizon, led by the single ‘No Design’.
“‘No Design’ is about the shifts that can happen in our relationships as life gradually changes. About how people who were once very close to us can suddenly drift away, not necessarily because anyone actively chooses it, but because new relationships and new commitments begin to take up space,” the band explain.
The laid-back, slowcore-inspired pop song captures one of the overarching themes of the forthcoming album, People Pyramids: the transitions that shape our lives as we move into new phases involving family, work, love, friendships and the choices we make – the things that ultimately become our foundation. The band elaborate:
“In ‘No Design’, relationships are imagined as a kind of people pyramid, where space is limited. When someone moves up, someone else can end up further down. It becomes a zero-sum game, where something has to make room for something else. It’s a reflection on how distance can emerge between people without us ever quite noticing when it happens.”
Inventory consists of Christian Ankerstjerne (guitar, vocals, keys, trumpet), Jacob Koefoed (drums, keys), Joakim Møller Johnsen (bass, vocals), and Christian Aumayr (guitar, keys).
Inventory’s debut album People Pyramids will be released in February 2027 via Dream Bureau.
