BASS DRUM OF DEATH ANNOUNCE NEW 7-INCH “TOO COLD TO HOLD”/”WAIT”
MUSCLE BEACH RECORDS
Bass Drum of Death have announced a forthcoming 7-inch with two new songs, “Too Cold to Hold” and “Wait,” to be released digitally November 20th and on vinyl January 8th via Muscle Beach Records. Today, the band is sharing “Too Cold to Hold,” a grinding garage stomper with a gripping hook and slinking groove reminiscent of the infectious urgency heard in their early studio work. The B-side skews heavier and nastier with a bludgeoning riff, crashing cymbals, and screaming breakdown. Together they deliver the kind of fist-pumping, shout-along catharsis BDOD fans have come to expect and love.
Since their 2011 debut, Gb City, Bass Drum of Death have garnered praise for their “noisy, garage rock that’s easy to like”. The “Too Cold to Hold” / “Wait” 7-inch marks the first new music from the group since 2018’s Just Business, and for the first time, it features BDOD founder and frontman John Barrett collaborating with his younger brother, Jim Barrett. The pair started writing songs in Brooklyn early this year and finished recording in Oxford, Mississippi during the COVID-19 lockdown. A full-length album is also in the works.
