@ MASSEY HALL, TORONTO
SEPTEMBER 28, 2023
An electrifying evening unfolded in the world of Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll as the Walk of Fame proudly embraced the induction of 13 extraordinary talents, all while commemorating its illustrious 25-year legacy.
The night’s glory commenced with the unveiling of each star; a moment of awe followed by an exclusive red-carpet affair featuring captivating interviews. Guiding us through this remarkable night were the incomparable hosts: Jeanne Becker, an emblem of music and fashion, renowned radio and TV personality, and a 2016 inductee herself, alongside the esteemed radio host and media legend, Terry David Mulligan. The evening’s structure exuded elegance as it paid homage to the 13 esteemed inductees. Each band was granted their own moment in the spotlight—a compelling video tracing their illustrious journey, a soul-stirring live performance, and an intimate 5-min interview. This carefully-curated experience provided the audience with an intimate glimpse into the artists, their rich histories, and the joy of witnessing some of their beloved bands reunite on stage.
A few heartwarming moments from the night deserve special mention. Prism’s interview was deeply moving, evoking tears from the audience. One member poignantly expressed that it would have been inconceivable to perform without their late lead singer, Ron Tabak. In his honor, the band unveiled a touching portrait, ensuring his presence on this legendary night. Rocket Norton shared his courageous battle with cancer, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of every fan present.
The unforgettable performance of “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)” by Alan Frew, Al Connelly, and Sam Reid of Glass Tiger transformed the audience into a harmonious chorus. Another notable highlight was Bill Henderson of Chilliwack, who delivered a mesmerizing rendition of “Fly At Night,” prompting the audience to sing along with passion.
The evening’s magic extended to the talented bands that paid tribute to the artists unable to perform on stage. Colin Macdonald and John Angus Macdonald of The Trews offered a special homage to Trooper, while the emerging 20-year-old artist, Charlie Edward, left a lasting impression on the night with his performances. Cody Bowles and Kevin Comeau of Crown Lands showcased their immense talent, and a powerful collaboration between rock legend Lee Aaron and Toronto icon FeFe Dobson dazzled the crowd.
The night was graced by the luminaries of the rock music industry, including Roger Ashby, Marilyn Denis, Steve Anthony, Alan Cross, Terry Dimonte, John Donabie, Erica Ehm, Liz Janik, Stu Jeffries, David Marsden, Maie Pauts, Ingrid Schumacher, Christopher Ward, Michael Williams, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Randell Adjei.
