With perhaps it’s most adequately named track ‘Witches’ set to the front, So You Think You Found Love? by Austin-based band Sasha And The Valentines opens with a bewitching psychedelia that draws listeners enticingly inward. This indie pop album calls upon psychedelic pop and rock that emanates 1960s nostalgia. But there is something darker within it, perhaps hidden undertones beneath its sun-filled sound. There is genuine agony and heartache in the voice of lead singer Sarah Addi that is masterfully accompanied by the band while not outshining the singer herself. “Everyone else laughed about it/But hey, it’s only you and me now” Addi sings of a dear lover in ‘Witches’, yearning for them to open up and reminding them that they are valid. This standout track encapsulates the difficulties of reminding our friends and lovers that they are loved and they matter to us.

So You think You found Love? is a stellar psychedelic pop record that will have listeners longing for the music of days past in the best way possible. It by and large makes brilliant use of its lead singer’s ethereal vocals to broach its intimate and intimidating subject matter.
