On September 3, Maddie Medley announced a co-headline tour with She Returns From War and Big Guy & The Very Large Men. Making stops across the Southeast this fall, the rising poetic powerhouse will perform songs from her debut full-length album Fawn’s Enemy (out September 25 on Soundly Music/Thirty Tigers). Tickets are on sale now.

Raised in Nashville and now based in Denver, Maddie signed with a major label at just 20 years old and released her debut Dave Cobb-produced EP Coming of Age, Pt. 1 in 2020. She has toured with artists including Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Brent Cobb and Adia Victoria and garnered praise from FLOOD, American Songwriter and NPR’s World Café, who called her voice “commanding and exhilarating, with a refreshing lyrical directness.” But after just three years, she left her label, frustrated with an industry that seemed to champion commerce over craft.
Named for the “fawn response,” Fawn’s Enemy was born from Maddie’s desire to find her own voice. Co-produced with her partner Luke Krutzke, the album forgoes polish and perfection to deliver performances as raw as the lyrics themselves while incorporating the warm, woody textures of mandolin, fiddle, bouzouki, upright bass, and acoustic guitar. At the center is her voice: an instrument that sounds like it was ripped out of a previous decade.
Maddie has already shared two singles from the album, including the defiant “Whittle” and the self-assured “Maybe in Your House.” Both songs were released alongside music videos that journey into the world of Fawn’s Forest, a place where memory, melody, rage, and resilience all share the same landscape.
