Australia’s Airbourne are back with another injection of hard rawk adrenaline. This is Airbourne’s sixth album and the first one in seven years and they pick up exactly where they left off. Singer John O’Keeffe continues to channel his best Bon Scott and the band still unashamedly sounds like peak-era AC/DC, especially on blistering boogie rock gems like “Gutsy”, “Kid In A Candy Store” and “Rock N Roll Ya.” While those songs harken back to AC/DC’s Highway To Hell era, other songs like “Sky High” slow the pace just a little bit and add more of a heavy metal punch like songs from the Back In Black era. No matter how you slice it, the self-titled Airbourne sounds exactly like vintage AC/DC but goddammit it’s fun and it’s good and that’s all that matters.
