Calgary’s own roots-rock troubadour Matt Blais is sharing the video for his latest single “Everything Connected” off his forthcoming album, In Shadow and Light, which arrives independently on June 21. Amidst a whirl of toe-tapping harmonica riffs, Blais muses on technology, detachment, and yearning for real connection and authenticity in an increasingly deceptive world. Blais’ first album in six years features contributions from producer Brian Moncarz (Our Lady Peace, The Trews), JUNO Award-winning engineer Josh Gwilliam (The Road Hammers, George Canyon), and guitarists Jimmy Boskill (The Sheepdogs) and Russell Broom (Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Jann Arden).

“In a world of influencers and online personas, what’s real is blurred and connection even more scarce,” says Blais. “Despite these oppressional forces, we’re all connected spiritually and technologically, and I wrote this song feeling hopeful that we can restore what’s been lost.”
