SOFI TUKKER’S TREEHOUSE NOMINATED FOR BEST DANCE/ELECTRONIC ALBUM GRAMMY
Sofi Tukker have been nominated for a Best Dance/Electronic Album GRAMMY Award for their debut album Treehouse. This is the duo of Tucker Halpern and Sophie Hawley-Weldβs second nomination following a Best Dance Recording nomination for their debut single βDrinkeeβ in 2017. Treehouse received great acclaim for its genre-defying sound, vibrant melodies, and themes of inclusivity and self-empowerment. The group released a series of internationally celebrated singles from the album including βBaby, Iβm a Queenβ, βBatshitβ, and βBest Friendβ which became a Top 20 smash on US pop, alternative, and dance radio this year. The Recording Academy will present the 61st Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 10th 2019, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast the ceremony on CBS at 8 PM EST/ 5 PM PST.
About Their Nomination Sofi Tukker Says:
βWe canβt believe this. We are OVERJOYED! Treehouse is all about building community, loving each other and yourself, and being free. We made Treehouse in order to return to a childlike state of play. And waking up to the news that it got nominated for a Grammy really makes us feel like kids on Christmas morning! Wayyyy better than that. We are so grateful for the love and support and belief and acceptance of our creations! EVERYONE IS INVITED INTO THE TREEHOUSE! LETβS PLAY!β
The Grammy nomination is the culmination of a breakthrough year for Sofi Tukker that saw their music chart on every continent other than Antarctica. They began the year performing βBest Friendβ on the Tonight Show, their US television debut, and MTVβs TRL. They then debuted βBaby, Iβm a Queenβ on CONAN and took the opportunity to show their solidarity with the March for Our Lives. βBatshitβ, a fan favorite at their live shows, sound-tracked the iPhone RED ads internationally. The group also launched their own label, Animal Talk to share their platform and foster their community of artists.
The success of Treehouse led to sold out shows across the world. Sofi Tukker used the Treehouse World Tour as an opportunity to further their activism. They partnered withΒ PLUS1 to donate one dollar of every ticket sold to The Trevor Project, who work to provide crisis intervention and suicide prevention to LGBTQ youth. They also partnered with The Ally Coalition to give their audience a chance to learn about local efforts serving the LGBTQ community at each concert. They previously worked with PLUS1 during their Spring US dates and donated over $20,000 toΒ Planned Parenthood.
