JUNO AWARD WINNERS TO SET OUT ON TOUR WITH OUR LADY PEACE FEBRUARY 17
Juno Award winning alt-rockers Monowhales have released their take on the Blur classic “Song 2,” which sees the Toronto-based band bringing their unmistakable swagger and energy to the iconic track. This cover is the band’s second foray into creating their own versions of some of their favourite songs. “When we started off as a band, we had fun covering songs we all knew and loved and ‘Song 2’ was a track we’d frequent and even cover live years ago,” says vocalist Sally Shaar.
“‘Song 2’ is my first memory of being viscerally moved by rock music,” says guitarist and producer Zach Zanardo. “I was just a little seven-year-old kid when my brother brought home Big Shiny Tunes 2, and my life was changed forever. Next thing you know I’m telling my French Immersion music teacher that I like “La Rock Alternatif” and watching Much Music regularly. Fast forward almost 25 years and here I am, a big seven-year-old, still in the Alt Rock world. Full circle!”
In addition to the new music, the band will be heading out on tour in a mix of headlining dates as well as a run with Our Lady Peace starting February 17th in Orillia.
