JUNO AWARD NOMINEE MONOWHALES SHARE DRIVING EARWORM ANTHEM “NEW THREADS” PRODUCED BY DAVE SCHIFFMAN
LAB RECORDS/WARNER MUSIC CANADA
Toronto band MONOWHALES have released “New Threads” off their highly anticipated, Dave Schiffman (Vampire Weekend, Pup) produced new album Tunnel Vision. The single is delivered in MONOWHALES’ signature style of powerful, hook-laden rock, that is emblematic of their influences ranging from Mother Mother to Nine Inch Nails. The song’s signature beat of deep drums and dreamy guitar riffs is another reason MONOWHALES are set to become one of Canada’s most exciting new bands. The anthemic release is accompanied by an official music video – watch it below or HERE.
Of the new track, drummer Jordan Circosta says “‘New Threads’ gives me the feeling of growing up – not like a child becoming an adult, but as an adult reaching a new level of maturity and knowledge of self. When I was young, I saw adulthood as the feeling of being ‘finished’ or ‘complete.’ It’s somehow both freeing and disappointing to reach a certain age and realize that you’re never done learning, and the best you can do is try to develop a relationship with your demons and make the most of what you’ve built so far. Part of that growth is finding good friends to share in that journey with you, so the hard times aren’t quite so hard, and you have someone to share the good things with.”
In addition to the new single, MONOWHALES will be hitting the road to join one of Canada’s biggest bands, Mother Mother, for their upcoming national The Inside Tour set to kick off this spring. The run of 17 dates will take the group across the country with stops in Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto to name just a few. They are also set to perform at some of the hottest summer festivals, including Osheaga on July 30th, Rock The Hub on July 31st, and Folk on the Rocks.
“New Threads” is the follow up to MONOWHALES confident single “CTRL^^^,” which is quickly climbing the Canadian alternative radio charts, where it currently sits in the top 10. On top of this, the band were recently nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2022 JUNO Awards. In addition to the new single
Exploding onto the scene in 2017, Toronto-based MONOWHALES have put a new lease on the alt rock genre and established themselves as one of the most exciting new bands in Canada. Their 2019 breakout single “RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down)” made history as MONOWHALES became the only independent, self-managed band to chart at #2 on the Mediabase Canada Alternative Rock Chart. With multiple Top 10 singles, millions of streams, and countless shows played across Canada (including support slots for K.Flay, DFA 1979, Sloan, and Marianas Trench), MONOWHALES have earned a special place in the hearts and minds of fans across the country.
