Harley Olivia releases her most ambitious record to date with Let Them Talk, a ten-track alt-rock album about liberating yourself from shame. Each song explores a different piece of Harley’s own journey; from celebrating the parts of herself she was once taught to hide, to confronting the insecurities that came from caring too much about what other people thought.
Reminiscent of alt-rock heavyweights like Halestorm, The Warning and The Pretty Reckless, Harley brings powerhouse vocals, driving guitars, infectious melodies, and theatrical intensity to a record that turns vulnerability into rebellion. Rather than running from the things that once made her feel exposed, Let Them Talk puts them front and centre.
“Let Them Talk is basically a collection of things I’ve either been ashamed of or insecure about,” says Harley Olivia. “Every song takes one of those things and digs a little deeper. Some songs are me celebrating a part of me I was taught to hide, and others are me working through my insecurity and fear of failure. By the end of the album, I know who I am and I feel this responsibility to help others liberate themselves too so they can reject societal pressures and propaganda and just be free.”
From the sexuality and double standards explored in “MADONNA/WHØRE” to the independence and desire celebrated in “Animals,” Harley turns the things she once felt she had to hide into sources of power. “What If It Doesn’t Work Out?”, “Trouble,” and “Mediocre” confront the anxiety, self-doubt, and fear of judgment that can make it difficult to take risks, while “San Francisco” and “Try Me On For Size” explore vulnerability, queer identity and the courage to be honest about what you want.
The title track, “Let Them Talk,” becomes the turning point: a decision to stop allowing other people’s opinions to dictate how Harley sees herself. By the time the album reaches “This Is Your Captain Speaking,” that liberation has evolved into a full-on rebellion, blending Harley’s flight attendant past with humour, intensity, and a rallying cry for others to stop asking for permission and start thinking for themselves.
Produced alongside JUNO Award-winning producer, guitarist, and co-writer Siegfried Meier at Beach Road Studios in Goderich, Ontario, Let Them Talk pushes Harley further into her signature blend of hard rock, gritty vocals, earworm melodies, and emotionally charged songwriting – ultimately inspiring listeners to reject someone else’s flight plan and take the controls of their own lives.
Let Them Talk is available everywhere on October 2, 2026
