ME & MUNICH RELEASE “WASH IT AWAY”
THE SECOND SINGLE FROM THE ALBUM POSTPONING THE PAST
Me & Munich follow up with their second album, Postponing The Past, which expands the palette in width and depth, and offers a solid bid for a versatile and insistent alternative rock album.
Me & Munich last dived below the surface of the debut Gaslighting, but now they have moved up from the underground on the sequel
Postponing The Past, which emits ambition and drive.
On Postponing The Past, the band delivers a well-crafted, well-composed and versatile album that embraces wider and that takes the listener by the hand in a sound universe of energy, melody and melancholy. The band’s sound balances between feelings of savagery and perdition, which have moments of light and darkness, and a sound image that is too hard for indie and too soft for metal. This dualism is the hallmark of Me & Munich.
The album was created over 1.5 years with corona, which gave the band a bigger opportunity to dive into the music together. The work was done on the dogma βAll ideas must be taken seriously and have to be tried outβ. This expanded the creation process, added thoroughness to the workflow and made the creation process of the songs longer and fiercer. In turn, the result was diverse, solid and satisfactory. The song variation differs from the catchy new wave-inspired βUnspokenβ, the punked βOut Of Luckβ, the toned down boogie-rocking “Wash It Away” to the melancholy and epic tragedy “Shadows Unfolding”. The lyrics transitions across themes such as – the unspoken words among us, brave vulnerability, the habituation of anxiety, the distraction from silence, as well the eternal right of bitterness to scorn.
The cover illustrates the entrance to the past, where the monkey awaits the owner, who must have the courage to knock on the door to deal with his repressed past that will eventually catch up with him. This is linked to the title of the album Postponing The Past. One thing that can not be doubted is that Me & Munich is back with a unique album that continues where the debut left off. Gaslighting received positive attention at home, where it was nominated for the Gaffa Award for Best Rockalbum and Best New Danish Band
