DAS ICH RETURN AFTER YEARS OF SILENCE WITH THEIR LONG-AWAITED ALBUM ‘FANAL’
DANSE MACABRE RECORDS/ALIVE
Das Ich, the pioneers of New German Death Art, return after years of silence with their long-awaited album, Fanal. The album, which has a title that means “torch” or “beacon,” is a burning testament to a fallen civilization. Composed from the rubble of human achievements and broken ideals, Fanal warns of the ghosts of the past and present that haunt the ruins of our world. With their unique blend of electronic-symphonic sounds, expressionist lyrics, and harsh industrial elements, Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm create a work that penetrates deeply both musically and thematically. Fanal is a musical journey through the ashes of fallen empires, digital networks, and torn souls. The lyrics, inspired by philosophical and literary concepts, address themes such as betrayal, transience, hubris, and humanity’s self-loathing. The flame of the beacon, composed of “bone fragments of broken ideals, soaked in the oil of mortal remains,” no longer serves merely as a warning, but as testimony to an end time that has already arrived. Fanal continues Das Ich’s tradition of linking social and philosophical themes with vivid language and intense music. The album’s lyrics draw influences from Friedrich Nietzsche, Gottfried Benn, and expressionist poetry. The album reflects the present of the year 2025, in which societies fragment, artificial intelligence takes over human roles, and truth becomes a matter of negotiation.
