CHURCH OF TREES DROPS SINGLE “WHERE IS LOVE” AHEAD OF NEW TRANSIENCE ALBUM
INDEPENDENT
“Where Is Love – Rob Stuart Mix” is the latest single to be released ahead of Church of Trees’ new album, Transience. Produced by Slave To The Squarewave’s Rob Stuart, “Where Is Love” is an electro-fueled club mix that seamlessly connects Church of Trees’ 2023 album “Courage” (a suite of electronic remixes produced primarily by Stuart) to the Ottawa synth-band’s forthcoming album, Transience.
Officially dropping on January 19th, “Where Is Love” features impassioned vocals by Stella Panacci and Heather Brazeau. The synth banger is a follow-up to October’s “Pet Sematary” (a Steinman-esque take on the Ramones punk banger).
Bandleader, Bernard Frazer, is enthusiastic about working with Stuart again.
“Working on Courage with Rob was such a rewarding experience, plus we were fortunate enough to open for his band at THE most legendary Canadian venue, (Toronto’s) The El Mocambo. So, reaching out to him again for this album was a no-brainer.”
ABOUT THE NEW ALBUM TRANSIENCE
Both “Where Is Love” and “Pet Sematary” (released in October, 2023) are lead-ins to Church of Trees’ 7th major release, Transience.
Taking a sharp left-turn from previous releases, the new album mixes synthpop with sonics that are better described as electro-rock, indie/art pop, and ambient.
Vocalists Heather Brazeau and Stella Panacci shine throughout — particularly Brazeau’s riveting delivery on the power-ballad Ramones cover “Pet Sematary”, and Panacci’s breathtaking vocal on the soulful Start Again. Frazer wields his resonant baritone for half of the dozen songs, particularly on the raw, emotional Transience.
Produced by Frazer and Jordon Zadorozny (Courtney Love, Lindsey Buckingham, Chris Cornell), the album about change also signals change. “We’re moving in a new direction” notes Frazer. “We’re loosening our grip on the past as we explore new waters.”
The single “Where Is Love” and the album Transience will be available on Bandcamp. Singles will drop on streaming services.
