WIDEMOUTH
NO GASOLINE
URBAN SCANDAL RECORDS

Chicago quartet Widemouth probably had other ideas (or maybe not?) when they named their debut album No Gasoline, but they somehow foresaw what is currently going on with it.
At the same time, the moody tone of the songs here is quite fitting, and they hit it so well. Maybe some listeners are not aware that doing it moody and in slower tempos is not such an easy thing to do, as it often exposes any elements that might be missing in your music, but songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist Mak Carnahan and her three cohorts have that slowcore ‘90s sound down to a pat, even updated for a few decades later. Their job was even a notch tougher, as they recorded it completely live somewhere in rural Indiana, giving the whole affair an extra rustic feel that is hard to miss. Maybe Widemouth members don’t need any gasoline after all.
