THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
THE FORMER SITE OF NEW PORNOGRAPHERS
MERGE RECORDS

Despite the initial controversy with its name when the band first appeared, The New Pornographers made it big instantly, and it was the quality of the music, lyrics and pure persistence that did it for this then collective, now a fully-fledged band.
Now, with the band’s 10th album, the band persists, along with its name and core lineup (no Dan Bejar contributions this time around), and a somewhat sardonic album title.
The persistence and longevity are quite admirable and seem to be working, as the somewhat subdued songwriting is still as intricate and as complex in its take on pop/rock as it was, as the 10 tracks still exude with all the best elements anybody can come up with doing this kind of sophisti-pop, showing that A.C. Newman, Neko Case, and the rest of the band still have something substantial to offer.
