SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: REUBEN AND THE DARK – IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW MY BROTHER

Reuben And The Dark

REUBEN AND THE DARK
IF YOU KNOW ME, YOU KNOW MY BROTHER
PULLING UP ARROWS RECORDS

Calgary’s Reuben Bullock and his Reuben and The Dark have never been easy to categorize, even though quite a number of critics have been comparing them with War on Drugs, with high quality of music up front. Yet, the level of individuality and Bullock’s seemingly eternal lookout for anything good in anybody definitely set him and his band apart.

In that respect, there is no change on If You Know Me, You Know My Brother with Bullock and the band going for a self-release, that at the same time not only keeps all his previous high standards but make the album even a notch more personal.

With all the traumas described in music here, including the death of Bullock’s older brother earlier in 2026, Reuben is able to pick himself up and come up with more great music to transform all the traumas into something positive.
