PEACEFUL FACES
WITHOUT A SINGLE FIGHT
GLAMOUR GOWNS

Quite a few so-called singer-songwriters take a trip down a lush baroque pop lane, and that seems just the right place for multi-instrumentalist and composer Tree Palmedo and his latest album under the Peaceful Faces Moniker titled Without A Single Fight.
Palmedo, who also takes on leader duties in an instrumental outfit Drinking Bird and often plays trumpet for the likes of Fleet Foxes and quite a few others, seems to do his best when he delves into a rich spectrum that baroque pop offers, and nine tracks on this album amply prove that.
Over some meticulous compositions and arrangements hover Palmedo’s vocals, that sound like a cross between Elliot Smith and Harry Nilsson, with lyrics that balance perfectly with Palmedo’s compositions, that can start out as a ‘simple’ song and turn into a complex composition like “The Danger”. At the same time, Palmedo doesn’t shy away from more up-tempo themes, like on the opener “Freee”, without losing that delicate baroque pop touch.
The only ‘problem’ might be that this album can push the listener to search out previous stuff by Palmedo’s Peaceful Faces.
