Toronto punk outfit, Wine Lips, have returned with their fifth full-length studio album, TV Dinner. The record follows a trip of singles released this year – “Semi-Detached Furnished Home,” “Projector” and “If You Don’t Know” – and is their first major release since 2024’s Super Mega Ultra.

TV Dinner opens with the good vibes and crunching power chords of “Cut It”, a track immediately reminiscent of the sound and energy The Hives. “Cut It” would fit perfectly on a pivotal soundtrack of a skateboarding video game that will shape the sounds of punk for the coming generation. This is further supported through the album’s singles, from the hyperactive pulse of “Projector” to the fuzzed-out riffs of “Semi-Detached Furnished Home,” and the chaotically dissonant, and incredibly alternative gem that is “If You Don’t Know.”

Over the course of 13 songs, Wine Lips rarely let a song linger past three minutes, allowing for them to express exactly what is necessary before shifting gears to the next track. As a result, TV Dinner is a punchy record that feels explosively volatile. Most importantly, however, TV Dinner is straight up a fun record to listen to – Wine Lips sound as though they’re having the time of their lives performing these songs and that feeling is damn near infectious. Highlights include the shifting pulses and tasty guitar tones of “Trip to the Doctor,” the stomping “Maybe You Can Give It A Shot, and the darker psychedelia of “Strip Club DJ,” among so many more.

On TV Dinner, Wine Lips appear fully formed as a band that has found their voice as songwriters and their sound in the studio. Serving as a point of culmination, their latest album is among their best work yet, demonstrating the longevity, power, and vitality of Wine Lips among the new wave of punk bands you should absolutely know.
