INDIE ROCK BAND JANE’S PARTY THE BEST OF WILD IN THE WOODS VOL. 1 EP OUT NOW
2024 TOUR DATES IN OTTAWA, MONTREAL & TORONTO
Revered indie rock outfit Jane’s Party announced the first round of dates on their 2024 headlining tour, in support of their new EP, The Best of Wild in the Woods Vol. 1, released on the heels of a successful run of 18 shows spanning North America in support of BRITs Critics Choice winner and popular singer-songwriter Tom Odell. Watch their live performance with Odell, sharing highlights of singing his song “Half As Good As You” together on stage. In January, they return to the USA to perform in New York City and Boston. Next, they have a handful of Canadian shows in Montreal, Ottawa, Peterborough, and their hometown of Toronto at Lee’s Palace. The full list of new dates can be found below along with ticket information.
Discussing the experience, which had Canadian stops in Toronto at Massey Hall, Montreal at Place Bell, and Vancouver at The Orpheum, bassist and vocalist Devon Richardson states, “Touring the United States has always been a goal of ours, so to get to do it for the first time supporting Tom Odell felt like we’d hit the jackpot! Some of the venues we played at were iconic, like The Fillmore in San Francisco and First Avenue in Minneapolis. Walking around backstage and learning some of the venue histories from the local crews was a real treat!” Guitarist and vocalist Tom Ionescu adds, “Getting to play music to people, night after night, in new places gets you thinking about things that would never occur to you anywhere else. Gradually throughout the tour, I began to relish in the quieter and more intimate moments of our set. Playing ‘Ships On An Ocean’ and leaning into its subdued, conversational style verses, as well as a shortened ‘Daydream’ with just vocals and guitar, made the audience – packed into some of the most colossal halls and theatres we’ve ever had a chance to perform in – feel much closer to us.”
In an effort to overcome the obstacles faced by artists during the pandemic, Jane’s Party came up with a creative way to bring back much-missed live performances. Their Wild in the Woods YouTube series acted as a platform to be able to continue creating music while offering their peers a space to share their work in a collaborative effort. JP’s signature electric show was transformed as they turned unlikely outdoor spaces into mesmerizing performance venues. Wild in the Woods 1, and later Wild in the Woods 2, produced a unique and flexible opportunity to create art with some of their most respected Canadian music colleagues, including Danica K, Nick Rose (Dwayne Gretzky), Tally Ferraro (Ferraro) and Skye Wallace, all offering different genres and styles. Now, listeners can enjoy the magic of the Wild in the Woods feature presentation, including the single “Dirty Work (feat. Danica)” – a cover of Steely Dan’s 1972 seminal track – across DSPs.
Ionescu concludes, “Each of the tunes on this EP captured the type of energetic and natural performance we recall from playing our favourite clubs and venues. We’re excited to get to add this live EP to our existing body of work.” New material is in the works, and expect more live show announcements in the weeks ahead.
