CAPTAIN DANGER – “HOLLY”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
Meet Los Angeles-based funk-rock trio Captain Danger. The trio is comprised of songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Aaron Steinberg alongside drummer Roger “Joose” Benford and bassist Keith “E-Day” Eaddy. They’re a crew of session musicians with an impressive laundry-list of credits that range from Bill Nye and Howard Stern theme songs to playing with Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre, SiR, and more. The result is some of the most impressive musical chops around. On their new song “Holly” the band showcases their musical ethos: a funky soulful groove that combines rock elements with classic pop lyricism.
The song takes off from the rip with an earworm of a chorus. Steinberg’s passionate delivery and powerful falsetto, pleading “So what does a man do, to make love to you?” act as an immediate gut punch that catches your attention. The power trio comes together with full force and the good vibes are palpable. The accompanying video was directed by the Emmy-nominated Dane Lawing and it’s a fun-filled jam interspersed with B-movie sci-fi images that launch Captain Danger to the stratosphere.
“Holly” is the first taste of the band’s forthcoming LP Love Sweet Love due out next month on March 26th.
Artist Quote
“The song mixes rock with some classic soul elements with a funky feel underneath, and I like how it doesn’t necessarily fit right into a predetermined, particular style. I feel like people are especially welcoming something unexpected, with a bit of a twist these days. Also from another angle, I like how we get into the chorus right away, magnifying the hookiness in it, seems to feel right,” explains bassist/vocalist Keith “E-Day” Eaddy
