Calgary’s own roots-rock troubadour Matt Blais is sharing the video for his latest single “Everything Connected” off his forthcoming album, In Shadow and Light, which arrives independently on June 21. Amidst a whirl of toe-tapping harmonica riffs, Blais muses on technology, detachment, and yearning for real connection and authenticity in an increasingly deceptive world. Blais’ first album in six years features contributions from producerΒ Brian MoncarzΒ (Our Lady Peace, The Trews), JUNO Award-winning engineerΒ Josh GwilliamΒ (The Road Hammers, George Canyon), and guitaristsΒ Jimmy BoskillΒ (The Sheepdogs) andΒ Russell BroomΒ (Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Jann Arden).

“In a world of influencers and online personas, what’s real is blurred and connection even more scarce,” says Blais. “Despite these oppressional forces, we’re allΒ connectedΒ spiritually and technologically, and I wrote this song feeling hopeful that we can restore what’s been lost.”
