POLARIS MUSIC PRIZE REVEALS THE 2017 SHORT LIST
WINNER TO BE ANNOUNCED AT SEPTEMBER 18 GALA
The Polaris Music Prize 2017 Short List was revealed at The Carlu Hotel in Toronto on July 16th. The Prize is presented by CBC music, and produced by Blue Ant Media.
After a few opening remarks by Polaris Founder and Executive Director, Steve Jordan, the microphone was turned over to CBC Radio 2 Morning host and Polaris juror Raina Douris, who will be host of the 2017 Polaris Music Prize Gala in September.
Here are the nominees to the 2017 Polaris Music Prize Short List:
A Tribe Called Red – We Are The Halluci Nation
BADBADNOTGOOD – IV
Feist – Pleasure
Gord Downie – Secret Path
Leif Vollebekk – Twin Solitude
Leonard Cohen – You Want It Darker
Lido Pimienta – La Papessa
Lisa Leblanc – Why You Wanna Leave, Runaway Queen?
Tanya Tagaq – Retribution
Weaves – Weaves
The Short List will now be handed over to The Grand Jury, who will deliberate between now and September 18th to determine the 2017 Polaris Music Prize Winner. The winner will be announced at The Polaris Music Prize Gala which will be held that evening at The Carlu Hotel, and live-streamed at cbcmusic.ca/polaris and on CBC Music’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. The winning artist will be the recipient of a prize of $50,000.
