Errors
Have Some Faith in Magic
Rock Action Records
The Scottish quartet that is Errors has returned with a well-thought-out album of dreamy, Electro-pop. Errors have defined their sound, moving from the Post-rock genre into experimental Dance-punk. Have Some Faith In Magic features vocals for the first time for Errors, but the vocals are treated as another instrument, so there are no coherent lyrics. And the track titles indicate earthy undertones: βTusk,β βEarthscore,β βCloud Chamber,β while others may remind you of the ancient world; βMagna Encarta,β βPleasure Palaces.β
βTuskβ is a dramatic opening for the album β it will take you back to the β80s with heavy synthesizers and shoegazing guitars. βMagna Encarta,β the first single off the album flows in well, with dreamy keys and a charming melancholy gloom. There is some definite Memory Tapes influence with the track βBlank Media;β the familiar melody will take you back once again to the β80s, but the vocals add a modern touch. βCanonβ has got a spy theme to it, while βEarthscoreβ uniquely blends jungle beats with Electronica.
Have Some Faith In Magic is a retro album β you cannot help think of bleached jeans, elaborate leather jackets and neon-coloured scarves. But itβs obvious that Errors is not just reminiscing; Have Faith In Magic is truly an exploration of sound, music, and our technological world.
