FASHN – “CONTINUATION”
A SPILL EXCLUSIVE VIDEO PREMIERE
NYC-based duo fashn return with “Continuation,” their first release of the year, arriving May 6. The project, helmed by longtime collaborators Thomas Peters and Julius Dolls, continues to refine a sound that sits at the intersection of gothic post-punk, indie rock, and shadowy electronic textures.
Originally formed in Chicago, fashn eventually relocated to New York, where they’ve embedded themselves in the DIY circuits of Bushwick and Ridgewood. Over the past two years, the duo has steadily built a following through a run of headline shows at staple venues including The Broadway, Knitting Factory, Alphaville, and Mercury Lounge—establishing themselves as a consistent presence in the city’s underground.
Alongside their live momentum, Peters—formerly of Modern Vices—and Dolls have released a string of notable singles, including “13” and “Pseudo,” both mixed and mastered by Local Natives’ longtime engineer John Zott. These releases laid the groundwork for their debut full-length Darkside and the forthcoming sophomore album Sequel, signaling a project in constant evolution.
“Continuation” follows October’s “Talk Show” and further sharpens fashn’s aesthetic. The track leans into moody, 1980s-inspired synth work and hazy, atmospheric vocals, creating a tone that feels both nostalgic and forward-looking. It’s a song driven as much by texture as it is by emotion, unfolding with a cinematic, coming-of-age intensity.
Speaking on the track, the band explains: “Continuation, finding the thrill in the monotony. Detached execution! This track is a representation of favored consistency over ambiguity. The only reality we want is the one that we create.”
With “Continuation,” fashn continue to carve out a distinct sonic identity—hypnotic, eerie, and cathartic—balancing clear influences from the past with a modern edge that feels entirely their own.
“Continuation” is out May 6. Tickets for upcoming live dates are on sale now.
