JOHN BORRA CELEBRATES THE RELEASE OF LAST DANCE AT THE E ROOM WITH A FULL-BAND SHOW AT TORONTO’S LEGENDARY HORSESHOE TAVERN
COUSIN JEB RECORDS
Acclaimed singer-songwriter John Borra is set to bring his raw energy and heartfelt storytelling to Toronto’s iconic Horseshoe Tavern on Wednesday, October 22, for the official record release show of his highly anticipated new album, Last Dance at the E Room. The evening will feature a full-band performance, with special guest Emily Triggs opening the night.
A revered figure in Toronto’s music scene, Borra’s new album reflects both personal loss and creative renewal. Last Dance at the E Room is a deeply personal album exploring themes of loss, love, and reflection. Drawing from the final days of the legendary E Room recording studio where Borra worked closely with his mentor Peter J. Moore, the album not only marks the end of an era but captures Borra’s growth as an artist. While the album is named after the E Room, it is not a direct tribute to Moore but rather a continuation of the creative spirit Moore fostered, reflecting Borra’s artistic journey and evolution. Featuring standout singles including the poignant “Here In My Heart” (premiered earlier this summer here at Spill Magazine) and the spirited “Did What I Could,” the record showcases Borra’s ability to weave grief, resilience, and joy into a sound that’s uniquely his own.
Last Dance at the E Room features a stellar lineup of musicians, including Cleave Anderson (Blue Rodeo), Derrick Brady (Skydiggers), and Michael Boguski (Blue Rodeo), with guest appearances by Michael Timmins (Cowboy Junkies), Steve Koch (Handsome Neds), and Paul Rigby (Neko Case). For this special night at the Horseshoe, Borra will be joined by his full band, bringing the album’s dynamic, genre-blending sound to life on stage.
Opening the evening is Emily Triggs, a Calgary-based singer-songwriter and bred-in-the-bones roots musician. Her debut album When Guinevere Went Under draws on influences from Lead Belly’s Deep South to Appalachian folk and her French Canadian upbringing, reflecting a lifetime steeped in music. Known for her clear, expressive vocals and honest storytelling, Emily has built a respected career as a solo artist and member of groups including The House Doctors, June Gloom, and Magnolia Buckskin. The Horseshoe Tavern, a cornerstone of Canadian music history, provides the perfect backdrop for Borra’s celebration. Known for his ability to channel punk’s rebellious spirit through roots-driven storytelling, Borra’s live shows are equal parts raucous and deeply personal — a fitting match for this milestone night in his career.
Last Dance at the E Room will be released on October 24, 2025, Borra will hit the road in support of Last Dance at the E Room, beginning with a record release show on October 22 at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern. The tour includes stops across Ontario, Quebec, Western Canada, and the US.
