QUICHENIGHT – “MILKY SWEET MIDNIGHT LADY”
Camille’s Market (December 2, 2016)
Cold Lunch

When he isnβt touring North America with brainy art-punk band PUJOL, Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist Brett Rosenberg is busy prepping and cooking Quichenight albums, which currently total seven. The largely home-recorded efforts offer a diverse buffet of powerpop, tongue-in-cheek rockers, jazzy interludes, and freak folk, with a healthy portion of sticky hooks. If chef Rosenbergβs recordings tend toward the lower end of the fidelity grill, his taste for seasoned playing and neo-traditionalist composition surely balances the palette. While 2015βs The Minor Sea was a beach-themed allegorical song-cycle which Nashville Scene said βtook psychedelic surf rock to a new, modernized level, β 2016βs Camilleβs Market is a more casual, more instrumental affair, featuring some of the catchiest Quichenight songs (the lead single, βMilky Sweet Midnight Ladyβ) and some of its wildest (Evenflo Jr.).
