SHEENAH KO – “WRAP ME UP”
NOWHERE IN TIME (2020)
NOVEMBER 22, 2019
“Wrap Me Up”, is a hyperbolic and fantasized rendition of Sheenah Ko and Brittney Canda’s live performance. The duo puts forth an interdisciplinary electronic music and contemporary dance act involving intense and emotional interactions with audience members. In this work, the artists have allowed themselves to straddle and blend seamlessly, the genres of music video, dance film, and narrative story telling. The diverse team, both in cast and creators, has resulted in a powerful work that doesn’t fit into one particular genre, and sends a message of acceptance.
Sheenah Ko is a multi-instrumentalist from Montreal & Maui. Best known as a member of the Besnard Lakes, she can also be found touring the world with Bedouin Soundclash, Little Scream, and many others. As a solo artist, Sheenah’s music is intended to swallow audiences into an entrancing journey where one can forget time and space. A huge, deep sound, she creates a certain mood and ambiance, bringing listeners into a trippy dreamlike state of “breathing” analogue synths, raw emotional vocals and driving beats. Accompanied by contemporary dancer, Brittney Canda, they enchant entire venues with their emotionally-charged and intensely captivating show. Her sophomore album, Nowhere In Time, is being released early 2020.
“‘Wrap Me Up’ is proof that you can make incredible, high-quality art as an independent artist!”
