COLA SHARE “HAVELUCK COUNTRY” | NEW LP C.O.L.A. OUT FRIDAY
FIRE TALK
This Friday, Cola — the Montreal trio of Tim Darcy (vocals/guitar), Ben Stidworthy (bass), and Evan Cartwright (drums) — will release their new album, Cost of Living Adjustment, via Fire Talk Records. Following a trail of singles that have collected an abundance of praise from the press.
Now the band is sharing “Haveluck Country,” the final advance single from their sort-of self-titled album. Spanning images of drugstore vitamins and diplomatic immunity, “Haveluck Country” puts the idiosyncrasies with which Cola have become synonymous on full display. “In the haveluck country // In the haveluck times,” Darcy begins, dropping listeners into a far-off landscape already dripping with familiarity. “Oh, it’s painfully serene // Crime without a payoff // What if it was all a dream? // Vivid luck.”
The accompanying “Haveluck Country” music video is helmed by Camille Anais Semprez and Cedar Teionietathe Jocks, and collects Borgesian footage of a helmet-clad Darcy dancing around a mysterious desert compound, which slowly reveals itself under the light of a nearly full moon.
In support of Cost of Living Adjustment, Cola will embark on a world tour, beginning with an Australian run throughout June. Following after, the July North American leg includes stops in Chicago, two nights in New York City, DC, Philadelphia, and more. Later this fall, Cola will head back overseas for a full UK and European stint. A full list of tour dates is below, and tickets are on sale now.
