RIDE’S MARK GARDENER REMIXES OUR NOISE’S “FLA”
SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW ON INDIESTRUCTABLE RECORDS
After recently recruiting renowned producer and The Dandy Warhols guitarist Peter Holmström to create a riveting remix of their standout offering “Blackmail”, Toronto’s OUR NOISE now tap up Ride’s Mark Gardener for the reworking of their much-loved outing “FLA”.
Delivering a far more pensive and atmospheric rendition of the original p-funk-inspired track, Gardener’s remix of “FLA” makes for a brilliantly broad and immersive listen. With its driven guitar hooks, looping over and over again, their newest reimagining sees the single adopt a truly arid and captivating texture throughout
Speaking about the new remix, the band’s Lucy Di Santo said: “While we were on tour in San Francisco, after we played our show, our dear friend Shauna McLarnon got us passes to see Ride perform also while they were on tour in San Francisco. We met Mark after their show and that planted the seed to discuss doing a remix for ‘FLA’. After we were both off our mutual tours, Mark sent us a few versions that he mixed up at his Ox4Sound studio in Oxford UK. Mark presented an Acid Trip of a remix, a slowed down chill vibe that knocked us out with repeated listens in Steve’s car.”
Emerging from the vibrant streets of Toronto and resonating through the bustling avenues of New York City, this indie rock power trio presents as a force to be reckoned with. Their unique sound is an electrifying sonic, guitar-based blend of post-hardcore/punk, and heavy rock/grunge, with undertones of old-school funk bass grooves and ’90s college rock.
The band has been compared to an array of artists and genres including PJ Harvey, Souxsie and the Banshees, Pixies, Quicksand, and Refused; it is an unquestionable mix of influences from grunge, to new wave, to punk. The undeniable chemistry of its core members is a true triad of collaboration. Dynamic Lucy Di Santo on bass and vocals, she is flanked by the powerful Dan Cornelius on drums, and tasty guitar work of Steve Fall. OUR NOISE’s pedigree includes the popular ’90s Sire/Warner recording act ACID TEST and Bad Taste Records’ DANKO JONES.
As they continue to push the boundaries of their aesthetic, OUR NOISE’s latest remix looks to hone the more progressive angle they have been pursuing lately. Blending their distinctive indie rock aesthetic with some wildly innovative ideas throughout, Mark Gardener’s “FLA” remix and The Dandy Warhols, Peter Holmström’s remix for “Blackmail” make solid additions to their catalogue and mark the first step within the next phase of their musical evolution to date.
OUR NOISE (aka ON) will play their first UK dates in October, starting at The Fiddlers Elbow in Camden Town on 12th October.
