MEGADETH w/ ANTHRAX
@ CANADA LIFE PLACE, LONDON
FEBRUARY 28, 2026
Taking the long 401 trip from Whitby to London to catch metal legends Anthrax and Megadeth was more than worth it on February 28, 2026. Anthrax kicked things off the right way with opener “A.I.R.,” and from that moment, it was ON! The show was completely sold out, there wasn’t a single empty seat in the house!
Anthrax delivered a tight, one-hour set full of classics, including standout performances of “Got the Time,” “Madhouse,” “Caught in a Mosh,” “Medusa,” “Antisocial,” “Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.),” and the crowd-fueled closer “Indians.” For OG fans who’ve been with the band since Spreading the Disease and Among the Living, this set had everything you could ask for.
Frontman Joey Belladonna’s voice was in absolute top form. As Frank Bello told me a few weeks ago, “I don’t know how he can still sing like that, it’s unbelievable.” And he wasn’t kidding. Joey sounded like the Joey of 30+ years ago. Scott Ian, ever the crowd driver, brought relentless energy to the stage, keeping the London fans amped. But the most energetic force of all? Frank Bello, one of the four original members still on stage. At a youthful 61, he brought power, precision, and non-stop energy, an absolute beast.
Charlie Benante, the OG speed-thrash double kick KING, looked 20 years younger than his age, and played like it, too. Effortless, precise, and totally locked in, his drumming was jaw-dropping. Jonathan Donais, on lead guitar, paid perfect homage to his predecessor Joey Spitz, never missing a note and keeping the riffs tight and aggressive.
After a short break, Dave Mustaine and his Megadeth crew tore into a three-song opener with “Tipping Point,” “Hangar 18,” and “Dread and the Fugitive Mind.” Mustaine came to the mic to officially greet the crowd, thank everyone for coming out, and then launched straight into a set that bounced between classic hits and new material from their self-titled album. Highlights included “Sweating Bullets,” “Angry Again,” and the fiery new track, “I Don’t Care.”
One standout moment was “Let There Be Shred.” Few guitarists can handle this track but Teemu Mäntysaari absolutely smoked it, especially the solo section that hits at full speed from the first note. Mustaine himself was in crazy-ass shred mode, trading lightning-fast licks with Teemu like it was nothing.
The show closed in epic fashion with “Skin o’ My Teeth” leading into a string of absolute rippers: “Tornado of Souls,” “Symphony of Destruction,” and the legendary “Holy Wars.” By the final chord, the crowd was scorched, fists in the air, and London had just been taken over by pure thrash chaos.
I’d see this tour again in a heartbeat, and hey, good news, both Anthrax and Megadeth will return to Toronto, supporting Iron Maiden this August 2026. Don’t miss it!
