SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BOY GOLDEN – BEST OF OUR POSSIBLE LIVES (DELUXE EDITION)

BOY GOLDEN
BEST OF OUR POSSIBLE LIVES (DELUXE EDITION)
SIX SHOOTER RECORDS

When we reviewed the original edition of this album back in February, we subtly posed a question whether this album on the edge of country, pop, Americana, rock (and pop again) will catch traction due to a cowboy hat and a country singer shirt (and a mustache), or because it was worth the time of every listener because it actually has something to offer musically, since it does.

Well, happy to report, it did catch traction, so Boy Golden’s record company was confident enough to re-issue this album as a deluxe edition for the upcoming holiday season.

Solid facts – this version of Best of Our Possible Lives adds two new songs and three acoustic versions to the 12 original songs on the first version of the album. And while not so much time has passed, the original dozen still so far stands the test of these few months. So, what about the newbies? Again, more good news – the quality is up to the standard of the original album, and that includes the acoustic versions, creating a cash or not dilemma for those that already have the album’s first version. For those that don’t have the first version, the dilemma shouldn’t be there.
