Sarah Rae comes from a classically trained background, gone teacher, gone salon owner, and full circle back to her first love – music – where she quit a 10 year hair career to do music full time. Taking the pandemic into her hands, she approached this collective trauma we all experienced as an opportunity to express herself, and get back to her roots. After releasing her first single in January of 2021 after getting signed with Bentley Records, she had an incredibly successful run of singles, and even a 3 track EP album that led in to a loud, grand re-introduction to her local Atlanta music scene when her, and her live band – Sarah Rae & the Sunshines – started hitting stage after stage to bring the ethereal shoegaze she created to life. In the background, she was quietly working on her first, full length album – Bridge to Neverland. Bridge to Neverland is Sarah Rae’s full length album written as a tale of a journey. Where will the journey take you? What will you feel on the journey? Who will you meet on your journey? Weaving in, and out of post rock, and shoegaze elements this album was composed to really pull at your heart strings. Sarah Rae takes inspiration from bands like Cocteau Twins with their emotion over meaning, and other sources like Kate Bush, Lush, and operatic vocalists like Amy Lee, and Sharon den Adel. With the title track leading you down a painful, confusing self-worth journey, you move through the tracks of the album riddled with operatic ambiance, and soaring vocals to really try to ask the listener to step on to the Jolly Roger themselves, and take their journey off to the promised Neverland.

“I started my full-time music career trying to manifest happiness for my potential listeners. Dancing Sun was a way to bring joy to a bleak time in all of our lives, and as we’ve moved through the tumultuous 2021, I wanted to create something that translated the confusion, excitement, pain, regret, and happiness of doing inner shadow work, and moving through the journey of life. I wanted to create something that highlighted the balance of light, and dark when it comes to healthy energy, and thus Bridge to Neverland was born. I poured a lot of emotion in to that top track, and cried a few times recording it. I hope that all of my listeners can relate to that journey, and know they’re not alone.”
