PolarisΒ 2015:Β Here’s The Long And Short Of It
It’s that time of year again! The Polaris Music Prize is getting set to announce their 2015 Long List Nominees. Having brought the long list reveal in past years to Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary, Polaris’ Founder and Executive Director, Steve Jordan, recently announced that this year it will take place on June 16th at Halifax music venue The Carleton. The event will be planned in conjunction with organizers of Halifax Pop Explosion.
The Polaris Long List is a list of the forty best albums of the past year, as nominated by a panel of judges. The panel consists of β196 members from local and national media who display a wide breadth and depth of knowledge of Canadian music and passion for discovering new albumsβ. The list will be pared down to a short list of the ten best albums, and one of the ten will go on to win the Polaris Music Prize for 2015. This year the prize value has been increased to $50,000.
The Short List will once again be revealed at The Carlu in Toronto on July 16th, where the Polaris Music Prize Gala will also be held on September 21st. The Gala will be broadcast live on Aux TV.
