BROOKLYN POST-PUNK MEETS VANCOUVER ELECTRO-INDUSTRIAL IN NEW BOOTBLACKS REMIX OF FRONT LINE ASSEMBLY’S “FORCE CARRIER”
ARTOFFACT RECORDS
Bootblacks have shared a new remix of Front Line Assembly’s 2018 track, “Force Carrier”.
Brooklyn post-punk meeting Vancouver electro-industrial is a sonic combination that surely carries force. A collaboration not simply of two powerhouse groups, but one which breaks the moulds of genres as we know them. The new track seamlessly blends post-punk with electro-industrial to a point where listeners are left craving more, not wanting to get off of the ship. Ethereal, to say the very least.
On the new single, Bootblacks’ Barret Hiatt comments: “Throughout the history of the band, we’ve always felt quite fortunate about the quality of collaborators we found ourselves able to work with. Bill Leeb’s contributions & influence to underground music speaks for itself, and to be able to deconstruct and experiment with one of his tracks was a real thrill. We’re excited to have been invited to contribute.”
BOOTBLACKS have been keeping busy in the studio, with a new album coming later this year via Artoffact Records!
Their latest single, “Wilderness”, was released late last year and saw the band experimenting more with electronic music and incorporating stricter electro elements – which we were given another taste of today. They shared that the sound on ‘Wilderness’ is representative of the approach on the upcoming album as a whole – commenting that they’re “big fans of juxtaposition, so its tone and structure are somewhat darker, but still upbeat.”
MORE ABOUT BOOTBLACKS
Since the group’s formation in 2010, Brooklyn based Bootblacks have been enthralling audiences with their frenetic live shows from North America to Europe. Their sound is described as a balance of contradictions: both pensive and buoyant, referential and modern. Their debut Artoffact Records release was 2020’s widely acclaimed Thin Skies.
The band’s first EP “Narrowed”, came in the fall of 2012, after having previously collaborated with Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds). “Veins” was released in 2016 and was described as a big step in the band’s evolution from punk to post-punk. With their influences always expanding, BOOTBLACKS is never complacent in what makes up their sound. “Fragments”, which was released in September of 2017, found the band further diving into a more synth heavy, atmospheric and “bigger sounding” Bootblacks than before. The album landed on many year end “best-of” lists and catapulted the band into a must see. This helped them land spots on festivals such as Cold Waves, Terminus, Absolution, Wave Gotik Treffen, & Murder of Crows.
