HOUSEWIFE PRESENTS SELF-DIRECTED “KING OF WANDS” MUSIC VIDEO

Toronto-based indie-rock outfit Housewife shares the music video for their new single, โKing of Wands,” which premiered this week.
Housewifeโs self-directed โKing of Wandsโ video celebrates the inherent power of womenโs intuition, spirituality, and solidarity – the things that keep women safe and thriving in the face of patriarchy.
โGetting to direct โKing of Wandsโ was such a cool experience! I had only experienced my firstย properย videoย shoot the day before, so it was kind ofย crazy to go straight into directing one the next day, but it ended up being a lot of fun,โ Brighid Fry (aka Housewife) says ofย their directorial debut. โBecause this song has a political message, I knew I wanted to be very specific in the making of theย videoย to ensure that it went along with the song in that regard. I was definitely nervous seeing as Iโve never done any directing, but the rest of the crew were super patient and supportive.โ
20-year-old Brighid Fry (she/they), aka Housewife, creates effervescent indie rock interwoven with timeless and perspective songwriting. Already touting several independent Canadian music awards for their previous releases, their most recent EP, โYouโll Be Forgiven,’ received praise from a number of major music outlets.
Housewife’s music regularly touches on the experience of being a young, queer, AFAB person existing in a male-dominated industry. In addition to exploring these themes in their music, Fry is also an advocate for 2SLGBTQ+ rights, reproductive freedom, and environmentalism, proudly fighting for immediate government response to protect ecological catastrophes as a founding member of the Canadian chapter of Music Declares Emergency.
