King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
PetroDragonic Apocalypse; Or, Dawn Of Eternal Night: An Annihilation Of Planet Earth And The Beginning Of Merciless Damnation
KGLW
Here we go again. And again. And again. Here comes another King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard album with possibly their longest title yet – PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. Is this the only accomplishment here, though?
Well, actually not. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard were a bit quiet this year as far as their method of rapid-fire number of releases for two (if you count in the album title). Three, it took them four years now to come up with another concept album that this one is (the last one was Infest The Rats’ Nest from 2019).
And four, and most important, they seem to be constantly honing down their art (and that is what it is) of pushing all things truly heavy in new directions, throwing in modal song structures they seem so adept at some incredible fast-paced playing and lyric concept some graphic novel authors would die for.
