Tangerine Dream announce theirย sophomore album after the passing of TG founder Edgar Froese, due out next February via Kscope/Eastgate Music, inaugurating ‘From Virgin to the Quantum Years’ tour.
Raumย album is a further step forward into what’s been anticipated in November’s EP Probe 1-8 ft Berghain resident Barker and Grand River remixes: late-night real-time compositions, classic studio production, sequencer driven haunting soundscapes, anthemic warm synthesizers.
Exactly like Edgar Froese’s archives about his Tangerine Dream, album title track video “Raum” is a Super-8 document of TG’s creation process at their Berlin Neukรถlln studio.
Indeed, the whole Raumย album sources Edgar Froese’s 1977-2013 priceless archive: all you’ll hear are Thorsten Quaeschning, Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick compositions, all directly inspired by Froese’s Cubase arrangements and Otari tapes. Closing the circle with TG’s remarkable, early studio performances. For the first time in decades, Tangerine Dream’s tracks can’t be exactly re-created live: direct response to the many shows which had to be cancelled in the last months.
