THE ANALOG AFFAIR – “TICKLISH”
AVALANCHE (2018)
Portland, OR
Independent
June 4, 2018
“Ticklish” is the lead single off The Analog Affair’s sophomore album, Avalanche, and sees the band channeling influences like Milky Chance and Glass Animals for a truly unique take on minimalist, groovy indie pop. Shimmering guitars backdrop pulsing bass lines, and Evan Baker’s intimate vocals draw you into the track.
Artist Bio
With their methodical, low temperature pop architecture, bite-sized blues riffs, and after hours vocals, Portland-based duo The Analog Affair bring their own unique spin to radio-friendly indie pop. It’s as easy to envision their cooly driven upbeat tracks grooving through dance floors as it is their down-tempo trysts mellowing out the post-revelry festivities.
Artist Quote
“The creative process on Ticklish was pretty interesting. Cody started with the beat making process, then came up with the chord progression on a bass guitar. Cody was at the time a new dad and remembers coming up with the chorus acoustic guitar hook with a baby strapped to his chest. Cody passed it along to Evan with some verse vocal ideas, who then came up with the chorus vocal hook. After that, Evan crafted the bridge for the cherry on top and the arrangement came together. We like the overall chillness and groove of this track gives off. The longer intro and laid back verse vocals do a great job of setting up the first chorus. The uniqueness of the bridge also really stands out and leads you down a new path we’re exploring (this path also shows up in the title track of the album, “Avalanche”). Then the last chorus drops.
