THE SPIKES – “NEVER TEAR US APART”
INDEPENDENT
Denver/Boulder-based cinematic rock band The Spikes are putting their own distinctive spin on INXS’s iconic hit “Never Tear Us Apart,” arriving November 6, 2026. Led by Rome-born guitarist and creative force Iago Haussman, the band blends atmospheric guitar arrangements, alternative rock influences, and cinematic storytelling to create a sound that feels both timeless and contemporary.
Following the release of their debut album, First Light, The Spikes have continued building momentum, with their “Garden Song” music video surpassing 120,000 YouTube views and a creative collaboration with Italian luxury eyewear brand L.G.R. Their interpretation of “Never Tear Us Apart” offers a fresh perspective on the beloved classic while staying true to the band’s signature sound.
The release also arrives ahead of The Spikes’ December 11 performance at The Roxy in Denver, where the band will bring their cinematic sound to the stage.
ARTIST QUOTE
What you love about the original:
Something I love about the original is the begging string section slowly building up to the verse. I’m a big fan of how the build up comes up right when the vocal comes in. That was something we tried to keep by extending the intro and giving it a more droning sound with the synth.
How you approached making it your own:
I knew that I wanted this song to be the crown jewel of the record. So we approached it with the thought of how we get to the nitty gritty of what the emotion of this song is. We started off simple, me on the piano singing away and Max on the guitar playing a simple set of riffs. Somehow we ended up with a far more emotional version of this tune which I think suits the song well.
What you hope listeners take away from The Spikes’ version:
I want this song to haunt my listeners, and to hopefully bring back certain memories of an ex lover. I wanted them to be able to listen to this song and almost feel the breath from their mouth, the taste of their lips and the feeling that even though they aren’t together any more there is something far greater, which will never tear those emotions apart.
