When somebody mentions that a certain indie band is including jazz elements within its music, the usual first impression is that of a few classic jazz elements brought into the usual pop or rock setting.

Yet, the Swedish quartet Primula take that jazzy thing a bit further on their 5-song EP, Nothing New. Well, maybe they think it is nothing new, but it just might be a bit different anyway. Ella Cronberg, Jim Base, Olle Lannér Risenfors, and Christoffer Hedén, who comprise Primula actually do come from a jazz setting with which they are obviously quite familiar with and combine it with the pop/rock one with such ease and comfort, integrating the two so seamlessly that you can hardly notice where jazz moves blend into pop ones and back, and at some point you simply stop caring, as their music has that easy flow that just makes it all work exactly as it should.
