CHEVELLE w/ ASKING ALEXANDRIA & DEAD POET SOCIETY
@ GREAT CANADIAN CASINO RESORT, TORONTO
AUGUST 20, 2025
Rock fans packed into the Great Canadian Resort for a powerhouse triple bill featuring Chevelle, Asking Alexandria, and Dead Poet Society. The lineup struck a balance between established heavyweights and rising talent, making for a night that showcased the breadth of modern hard rock.
The evening kicked off with Dead Poet Society, a band that has been steadily building a reputation for their raw, inventive sound. Performing tracks old and new, the group wasted no time seizing the crowd’s attention. Their blend of fuzzed-out riffs, angular rhythms, and Jack Underkofler’s distinctive vocal delivery set them apart from many of today’s newer rock acts. Songs like “.CoDA.” and “.intoodeep.” carried an intensity that translated effortlessly to the stage. Though they were the youngest band on the bill, Dead Poet Society played with a confidence that hinted at their potential longevity. By the end of their set, the audience was leaning in, taking note of a band clearly on the rise.
Next up were Asking Alexandria, bringing a burst of high energy and a more theatrical presence. Known for their evolution from metalcore roots to a more arena-rock-ready sound, the band leaned heavily on crowd-pleasers that showcased both sides of their catalogue. Frontman Danny Worsnop commanded the stage with ease, moving between soaring cleans and guttural growls with practiced precision. The band tore through fan favorites, while also sprinkling in newer material that showed their ongoing growth. The crowd responded with moshing, sing-alongs, and the kind of energy that only comes when a band truly connects with its audience. While their polished production contrasted with Dead Poet Society’s rawness, it worked as a perfect lead-in to Chevelle’s set.
When Chevelle finally took the stage, the energy in the room shifted from restless anticipation to full-throttle catharsis. The trio, made up of brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler with touring bassist Kemble Walters, delivered a career-spanning set that reminded the crowd why they remain a mainstay in hard rock more than two decades into their career. Right from the opening tune, the band immediately locked into their signature groove: heavy, melodic, and uncompromising.
The setlist balanced older hits with newer material, giving longtime fans plenty to cheer for. Pete’s vocals cut through the wall of sound with haunting clarity, while Sam’s thunderous drumming drove every riff forward. The stripped-down stage production, minimal visuals, and no frills let the music do the talking. And talk it did.
As the lights came up, the night felt like a showcase of rock’s many faces: the fresh hunger of Dead Poet Society, the seasoned spectacle of Asking Alexandria, and the unwavering mastery of Chevelle. Together, they delivered a concert that was as diverse as it was relentless proof that heavy music continues to thrive.
