After a sold-out season opener, which saw thousands venture over to Toronto Island for a day of music in the sun, the vibes were high as smiling Electric Islanders scattered about the grounds with two stages to explore, a variety of gourmet food trucks, and a day to remember which kicked off summer 2018. Ellen Allien brought her Berlin techno to the dance floor, which was both energizing and experimental, YokoO had us in a hypnotic state with his lovely melodic sounds, DJ Tennis gave us an unforgettable selection of music, as the golden hour sunset cast upon festival goers on the dance floor. Black Coffee closed out the Main Stage, leaving a lasting impression on Torontonians. Meanwhile, the Moog Audio Stage transformed into a tech house haven, while Carlo Lio and Nathan Barato played back to back, bringing in a high energy party to their loyal local fans.
Next up, Electric Island is pleased to announce the Canada Day edition! On Sunday, July 1 grab your festival family and come celebrate our country’s birthday at Hanlan’s Point.
As always, the day will feature a diverse lineup of international acts who will keep the dance floor vibrating from start to finish. On the main stage, catch the heavy-hitting sounds of Brazilian techno export ANNA, UK garage house producer Billy Kenny, the wildly diverse Jackmaster and the underground’s favourite bros; The Martinez Brothers! Supporting this roster of dance music experts will be Canadian No.19 mistress Jade and Toronto favourite Simon Jain.
Over at the Moog Audio Stage attendees will get their groove on to the deeper, harmonic sounds of Robert Babicz. A strong lineup of local talent including tech house act Andy Cue, Bohemian Yacht Club’s Brian Johnson, and techno act Jeremy Stott will provide the perfect tunes for an intimate dance party.
