TEEN ROCK TRIO THUNDER QUEENS SHARE NEW TRACKS AHEAD OF SOPHOMORE ALBUM OUT THIS WEEK

Teen rock trio Thunder Queens may be back at school, but that hasn’t stopped them from having one of their most exciting Septembers yet. Today, they share “Walk With Me” and “Misplaced Heart,” the opening and closing tracks of a three-song arc on Side A of their forthcoming album, Deep Below, due out this Thursday, September 24, via Victory Pool Records. Sitting between them is the previously released epic ballad and title track, “Deep Below.” Alongside the new songs, they share a video for “Misplaced Heart.”
Like the ocean, the sophomore album reveals more the longer you spend with it. On the surface, the album sounds like three fearless young rockers, Lola Good (vocals, drums), Violet Bruneel (vocals, electric guitar), and Clara Magnan (vocals, bass), riffing through their teenage years. But underneath those layers of guitars, eyeliner and calluses, the trio are navigating a constant push and pull, already feeling future nostalgia after spending more than half their lives in the same band.
In a singles-driven era, Thunder Queens hope fans old and new will take in Deep Below as a whole. The trio sequenced it carefully, with every song building a larger story and an emotional journey.
Deep Below is about change, growing up, friendship, loss, and learning to let go of things you thought would always be part of you.
“We wrote every song together, using our old voice memos, saved-up riffs, and lyrics about real feelings we were trying to figure out,” shares the band. “It’s the heaviest and most emotional thing we’ve ever made, but it still has the parts of Thunder Queens that feel most like us: big vocal harmonies, loud guitars, heavy drumming, and songs written to be played live. Deep Below is a record about finding yourself, and all the weird, heavy, exciting feelings that come with that.”
Those themes have been unfolding in real time, and the band has it on film. The feature rock documentary Thunder Queens, executive produced by Tegan and Sara, follows the years leading up to Deep Below, offering an intimate look at the friendships, growing pains, and musical journey behind the band. The film makes its Canadian premiere October 17, 2026, at the Forest City Film Festival.
The band recorded most of Deep Below at Dream House Studios with Dave Schiffman. The eleven-song album also includes “Bluebells,” “Wait,” and the previously released “Teenage Years” and “Birds On A Wire, ” the latter two remastered by Ryan Dahle and co-produced by the band and JUNO-nominated producer Thom D’Arcy.
The release lands mid-run of live dates, including tonight at Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern supporting Bad Nerves, followed by shows with Cancer Bats and the London Punk Rock Flea Fest, which takes them back to where they first met.
