BARENAKED LADIES RELEASE ALL-NEW ACOUSTIC VERSION OF “CLEARLY LOST”
NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE RUN KICKS OFF JUNE 3
MULTI-PLATINUM-selling Rock legends Barenaked Ladies return with “Clearly Lost (Acoustic)” — the first glimpse at their forthcoming EP In Flight – Carry On. Due out on May 16, the digital-only EP features all-acoustic, newly reimagined renditions of seven standout tracks from the band’s acclaimed 2023 album In Flight. A folky piece of self-reflection, “Clearly Lost (Acoustic)” perfectly showcases the vibrant musicality at the heart of Barenaked Ladies (vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson, bassist/vocalist Jim Creeggan, keyboardist/guitarist/vocalist Kevin Hearn, drummer/vocalist Tyler Stewart). In a new twist on the original version, the stripped-back track slips into a slower tempo and weaves in tender harmonies, soulful melodies from guest fiddler, Kendel Carson, and gently thumping rhythms. Meanwhile, Robertson’s lyrics speak to the strange mix of serendipity, missteps, and sheer determination that shape our paths through life, striking a brilliant balance of poetic insight and off-the-wall humor (from the second verse: “I had it all worked out, I was in the clear / Until the devil on my shoulder started grinning, saying ‘Hold my beer’”). Equal parts poignant and playful, the result is a prime example of the one-of-a-kind charm that’s made Barenaked Ladies an Alt-Rock institution.
The upcoming release of the acoustic EP features fan-favorite tracks from Barenaked Ladies’ most recent LP, In Flight. This album marked their eighteenth studio album in an extraordinary career that’s included winning eight JUNO Awards, earning two Grammy nominations, being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and turning out massive hits like “One Week” (a No. 1 smash in the U.S.), Top 20 singles “Pinch Me” and “If I Had $1,000,000,” and the pop-culture-dominating “Big Bang Theory Theme.” In Flight is available digitally, on CD, and in a double-vinyl edition (both 180-gram white-colored and picture disc) and on May 16, fans can get the digital release of In Flight – Carry On. Soon after the release of In Flight – Carry On, Barenaked Ladies will hit the road for the Last Summer On Earth 2025 Tour — a 38-city headline run kicking off on June 3 at Atlanta’s Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park and continuing through August 2 at Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI. Known for an electrifying live show that attracts audiences of all ages, the band will also bring the eighth edition of their iconic tour to famed venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City, The Chicago Theater in Chicago, a hometown show at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, ON, and many more. Alt-Rock mainstays Guster will join the bill from June 3 to 28 and iconic hitmakers Sugar Ray will hop on the lineup from July 8 to August 2, with Fastball accompanying as support on all shows.
